Thanks to the recent success of the second season, The CW’s Stargirl is getting a third season. Subtitled Frenemies, it promises to advance the show’s various heroes and villains while also introducing new players. Loyal viewers might want to prepare themselves by learning the latest news about the third season.
- There Is a Bonus Comic Adventure
Fans can enjoy a brand new adventure before the season three premiere. Though they are likely more familiar with the Stargirl comics by creators Geoff Johns and Lee Moder, there is another comic starring this specific version of the heroine. Earth-Prime: Stargirl #4, out on May 17, will feature the Dugan-Whitmore family as they are stalked when they go on a camping vacation. The sixth issue also promises a team-up between Stargirl and the other DC CW heroes.
- It Will Involve Unlikely Allies
The title Frenemies implies new alliances with unexpected characters. The Crocks, a family of supervillains, moves in next door to the Dugan-Whitmores after they all defeated Eclipso in season two. Meanwhile, Cindy has a change of heart and wants to join the Justice Society of America. Finally, Rick wants to revive his former enemy and current friend, Solomon Grundy, with the help of The Shade, another villain who became an ally to the heroes.
- New Villains Will Arrive
The events of season two have attracted the attention of the Helix Institute for Youth Rehabilitation, a mysterious organization that “recruits” young people with superpowers. The leaders, Mister Bones and Nurse Love, are intrigued that superheroes and supervillains can co-exist in Blue Valley. As a result, they are interested in visiting the town in person. If Helix is similar to its comic book counterpart, it will bring in other dangerous supervillains such as Baby Boom, Kritter, Penny Dreadful, and Tao Jones.
- Filming Has Wrapped Up
Despite the second season finishing in November 2021, viewers may expect to see the upcoming season sooner than before. Star Brec Bassinger confirmed on March 18, 2022, that filming has wrapped on the season. This news might have caught people off-guard since it was a relatively fast shoot and there were no major casting announcements beyond some recurring actors becoming series regulars. As such, the wait for Frenemies will depend on post-production and scheduling.
Season three of Stargirl promises new stories with familiar faces and rising threats. Fans can keep up with the latest news as they unfold before new episodes arrive to The CW.
